About Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts

Co-founded by Paul McCartney and CEO and Principal Mark Featherstone-Witty, LIPA opened in 1996 and today is an acknowledged part of UK provision for the performing arts. LIPA’s curriculum is constantly evolving to meet industry demands and these links are present throughout students’ training. Leading experts and household names take part in masterclasses and Q&As and teaching staff have a wealth of industry experience.

MA Costume Making A unique course for versatile makers to hone construction skills and produce a compelling portfolio across different periods and styles. Students develop advanced making techniques and improve skills in associated areas like millinery and props. Studying in a real-world environment and working on two show seasons, we ensure that professional practice is embedded in learning.

MA Acting (Company) This course, in association with Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse, facilitates the creation of original ensemble work to tour as a professional company, supported by funding. Students work with an experienced team of professionals offering advanced training so they’re ready and able to take on a variety of roles: director, writer, performer or producer.
