About the Department of Biology - University of York

The Department of Biology at the University of York is one of the UK’s most highly ranked biological sciences departments for research and teaching. We cover the spectrum of contemporary biological sciences from molecular aspects of cancer to field ecology. Our research efforts aim to tackle three major global challenges: health and disease, sustainable food and fuel, and environmental change.

With a commitment to interdisciplinary research, our Department offers two major fully-funded Doctoral Training Programmes in partnership with other departments and universities. Also, we offer fully-funded PhD studentships in partnership with charities and industry.

All our PhD training is research-oriented and we have excellent facilities with easy access to the latest equipment and expert advice. Our high employability success rate is helped by a balanced programme of training in broader research and professional skills.

Visit our exhibition stand to find out more details and opportunities. Please check our website to see which projects are currently available.
